I’m deeply saddened
to hear that St.Malachy's F.C. not currently receiving a Sport’s Capital Grant for
their new clubhouse. This is a devastating blow to the Club which had hope to
secure funding for this. Currently Kids are been subjected to bad conditions in
the existing clubhouse which is a disgrace that the local community of Edenmore
has little or no facilities in place for the youth and young adults which need
attention urgently.
St.Malachy’s have
served the community for over 45 Years with over 200 Children currently in the club
from the ages of 6 to 18. This Football
Club deserves a fair chance to help and support the local community, we have
many children who come from domestic abuse or alcohol/drug abuse which helps
takes these kids out of this danger for several hours a week.
I hope over the
coming months to work closely with St.Malachy’s to look at possible solutions
to the clubhouse situation.
